As with so many organizations today, 2010 finds the San Diego Psychological Association (SDPA) facing new challenges. An upside of challenging times is that they can give rise to innovation. For SDPA members in 2010, I want that to mean enhancing the value of membership in our Association in a fiscally responsible manner. One endeavor in that regard is that we will be updating and upgrading our website to be more user friendly and to offer an increased number of resources for psychologists. Our many committees, Association services, and task forces are a wealth of professional information, and we hope to share that information with our members through website committee pages. Information about current events on local, state, and national levels related to our profession will also be available there. Keep an eye out for these changes and more over the next months. When our website “remodeling” is complete, you will want to add www.sdpsych.org to your favorites list and visit it often!

 

Membership in SDPA can be professionally, personally, and even financially rewarding. We encourage you to become familiar with the benefits available to you through your membership and to take full advantage of them this year: attend continuing education events, consult with an Ethics Committee member when you encounter an ethical dilemma in your work, join a committee, and read our award winning newsletter, “The San Diego Psychologist,” cover to cover! As many of you already know, these examples are only a few of the opportunities available to you as an SDPA member.
