COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Couples therapists will most likely run into high-conflict clients throughout their career and will need a roadmap on how to handle the situations.  This course will focus on couples in conflict, especially the high-conflictual types.  During the training, clinicians will learn how to identify the 3 main causes of high-conflict couples, develop strategies for de-escalation, and identify steps to new positive communication patterns using Emotionally Focused Therapy techniques.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

1. Assess and identify the root causes of high-conflict couples.

2. Develop strategies and techniques to de-escalate the conflict.

3. Create new communication patterns using Emotionally Focused Therapy.
