Wine & Cheese at 5:00 pmDirected by Denis Villeneuve and nominated for eight Academy Awards in 2017, including best picture, Arrival is “an ambitious sci-fi film that forces viewers to reconsider that which makes us truly human, and the impact of grief on that timeline of existence.”
When gigantic spaceships touch down around the world and nations teeter on the verge of global war, a linguist and her crew must race against time to find a way to communicate with the extra- terrestrial visitors. For psychoanalytically attuned audiences, watching this film is like holding a seminar on figuring out "object relations.” The film is available on Netflix. Please watch the film beforehand so that there will be more opportunity for participation and we will all benefit from deeper Psychoanalytic dialogue. We will show clips of the film during the discussion.
