SDPA welcomes licensed psychologists, early career psychologists, graduate students, affiliate professionals, and friends of psychology.
Membership Levels
Full Members Licensed shall hold a doctoral degree in psychology and be actively licensed to practice psychology in the state of California.
Full Member Licensed 3-4 Years
shall hold a doctoral degree in psychology and have been actively licensed to practice psychology in the state of California for more than two years and less than four years.
Full Member Licensed 1-2 Years
shall hold a doctoral degree in psychology and have been actively licensed to practice psychology
in the state of California for
less than two years.
Full Members Licensed Aged 65 shall hold a degree in psychology, be actively licensed to practice psychology in the state of California and be aged 65 or older.
Full Members Non-Licensed shall
hold a doctoral degree in psychology and be non-licensed to practice psychology in the state of CA.
NOTE
This level includes individuals who have a doctorate in psychology (Full Members) but for various reasons are non-licensed. This would include individuals who are at various stages of acquiring post-doc hours or taking the licensure exam. It includes individuals who are working in various clinical settings but are non-licensed. It includes those who work in academia and do not maintain licenses to practice. Also included are those permanently disabled and those who are licensed in states other than California. It includes individuals who have doctorates in psychology but are working currently under licenses for another profession (like MFT). Individuals in the latter category may choose this level or Affiliate.
Full Members Retired shall hold a doctoral degree in psychology and
be retired from their work in the field of psychology.
License must be expired.
Graduate Student Members shall be enrolled in a doctoral program
in psychology.
Affiliate Members shall be professionals in fields affiliated with psychology (e.g. MD, RN, MFT, LPCC, LCSW, JD)
Friend Members shall be any individuals, aged 18 or older, who are interested in psychology and do not meet the requirements for any of the other levels of membership.
