SDPA WALKING IN PARADE MEETUP INFORMATION
Thanks to the work of our LGBT Committee Chair Abi Weissman, Psy.D. SDPA will be marching in the San Diego LGBTQ+ Pride Parade on Saturday July 14th at 11am. We want to invite you, your friends, and family to come join us and support our local LGBTQ+ community. As you all well know, it's important for folks from marginalized communities to know that psychologists and other mental health providers see them, understand their unique and universal challenges, and celebrate their strength, diversity, and persistence! These folks are our family, friends, neighbors, clients, co-workers, colleagues, and ourselves! Please join us in your most festive Pride regalia! The theme is Persist with Pride, feel free to express yourself and share your messages of LOVE!
We are Contingent Number 212, Staging Zone P in the Blue Section. The staging area is north of University Ave. between Normal St. and Park Blvd. The parade begins at University Ave. and Normal St. at the Pride Flag. The estimated time for our contingent to begin moving towards the step off point is 1:15 pm with an estimated step off time of 1:55 pm. You should plan on assembling in our staging area a little before 1:15pm.
We suggest getting to the area before everything kicks off at 11am as the traffic and parking will be a challenge. Parking is best further from the route and you can find information on parking and shuttle service from Balboa Hospital and maps of the staging area on the website (see below).
This means you can enjoy the parade for awhile before hand, people watch, and find food/drink/shade. This year, there will be food and coffee trucks in the staging area to enjoy while we assemble.
And, of course, sunscreen, water, sun protection is recommended. We are looking forward to seeing you there,
