Our Diversity and Inclusion Committee is up and running, although still under construction. We still welcome members to join us for an enriching experience of growing in cultural diversity. The location is the same and we will provide food and drinks.
Tuesday, October 15, 2019 6:30-8:00 pm
12636 High Bluff Drive, Suite 400 San Diego 92130
Our goal this meeting is to continue the re-construction of the Code of Conduct and Mission/Vision Statement. They form the foundation and focus of our involvement as a committee within SDPA.
Also, since education is a key focus, we want to be proactive in this pursuit. It is important that cultural diversity within SDPA begins with our own growth to know how to better interrupt racism, ageism, classism, ableism, etc. I encourage you to consider the cultural group/s you represent and bring a list of "5 Things to Know About (Your Culture)." Please pay attention to culturally competent language, phraseology, and positive focus to guide your 5-things. For example, rather than stating, "I don't like it when people do..." let's try to reframe it in a positive statement, “I like it when people don't judge me for the color of my skin." Don’t worry; you will not be put on the spot. However, we do encourage participation.
Please arrive as close to 6:30pm as possible to gain entrance to the building. There is a building entrance procedure should you find yourself more than 5-minutes late. This info will be provided when you RSVP. We will start promptly at 6:30pm.
Please RSVP via this email to confirm (dr.dtownes@gmail.com) so we have an estimate for food preparation and to receive the building access information. Thank you! We look forward to seeing you! Oh, don't forget your lists of 5 J!
