Course Description:

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly reshaping both our everyday lives and the way we deliver mental health care in private practice. While emerging technologies offer exciting possibilities, they also raise important ethical, legal, and clinical questions for mental health professionals. Many clinicians are curious about AI but feel understandably cautious, particularly when it comes to client privacy, data security, and responsible use.

This engaging and informative course provides a clear, practical overview of how AI tools are currently being used in mental health care, with a special focus on private practice settings. Topics include administrative applications, clinical documentation support, decision-making tools, and the potential role of AI in therapeutic work.

Dr. Rochelle Perper leads a thoughtful and accessible discussion of ethical standards, legal considerations, and risk-management strategies clinicians must understand when evaluating or integrating AI tools into their practice. Designed for professionals who want to stay informed without feeling overwhelmed, this training focuses on helping clinicians think through ethical decision-making, consent, and how to use these tools thoughtfully and responsibly in practice. This course meets the Continuing Professional Development requirements for psychologists in the subject of Laws and Ethics.
