The mission of the Supervision Committee is to provide an opportunity for psychologists to discuss the practice of supervision and clinical training. Members of the Committee will present cases to each other as a means of sharing new skills, techniques, and approaches that have proven to be effective. Other relevant topics include the opportunities and obstacles in conducting student evaluations, as well as methods of orienting students at the beginning of the year. Each year, the Committee provides a one-day training session to students at Alliant University on the basics of leading group psychotherapy.
The Committee meets with the training directors at Alliant University to give feedback and make suggestions on issues related to training and supervision. They have provided input at the state level regarding internship regulations and training requirements.
Additional areas of interest have included methods of writing letters of recommendation, suggestions for changes in the Uniform Notification Day procedure and studying the APA development of standards of practice for supervision.
