COMMITTEE PURPOSE:

The purpose of the Forensic Committee is to promote high standards for the delivery of forensic services in San Diego County and throughout the state of California. The Committee offers educational workshops and consultations to member psychologists who are interested in this challenging and highly specialized field. The Committee also addresses the promotion of the profession of psychology to multiple forensic arenas.
The Committee meets on the third Monday of the month at 7:00 PM on Zoom.

The incoming President will present her plans for the upcoming year. Please join 2024 President Debra Halliday, Psy.D., 2024 Treasurer Chad Cox, Psy.D. and 2025 President Nicole Karst, Psy.D. for their presentations on the 2024 and 2025 SDPA years respectively.

A 2 hour, in person event, where you get the chance to share your work, practice and areas of interests to network with fellow psychologists and mental health professionals. The purpose of the event will be to make connections between providers and will benefit the broader community by helping make more effective referrals for our potential clients. Also, just a good chance to connect with colleagues and have some laughs.

Events committee members will assist SDPA committees in the planning and execution of the organization’s various events. In addition to assisting with events planned by other committees, the events committee is responsible for working with the president to host the summer social, the fall conference, and the winter gala. The events committee organizes volunteer efforts that assist in selecting dates, venues, catering options, and sponsors for SDPA activities. Events committee members contribute to marketing, budgeting, poster session organization, awards, and entertainment aspects of SDPA’s events.

The purpose of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ+) Committee is to educate the SDPA membership, mental health professionals, and the San Diego public about LGBTQ+ issues. The Committee continues to increase awareness, and provide counseling and support to the San Diego community. They serve as a liaison between SDPA and the LGBTQ+ communities, providing updates and discussions of the issues involved in the treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer individuals. The Committee is a resource for those practitioners who work with LGBTQ+ clients and HIV-infected individuals.
